I wanted to play with the timing of the text animation with the sounds of protest. This video uses a small section of sounds from my earlier symposium work, but I reanimated the text to give it character. I wanted to have the text almost the reaction to the sound, kind of like the sound of thunder with the sight of lightning...?
During feedback a few questions were raised, like "Who is Thomas Jefferson?", "Can this text/sound animation style be applied to other issues?", "Why this section of sound?", etc. Jess suggested I look into something like the protests about the Grenfell fire, and maybe pair them with politicians' speeches reacting to the fire and protests. Another piece of good feedback suggested I try pulling different ideas to the surface, and playing with the contrast between the sound and what's being said. Looking forward to seeing what ideas these spark!
